7th Annual Deshpande Symposium for Innovation
& Entrepreneurship in Higher Education

June 11-13, 2018 in Lowell, Massachusetts

Call For Proposals

Panel Proposal Submission Form

Deshpande Symposium conference sessions are structured around panel presentations that explore common themes. All submissions should clearly identify which of the three conference tracks they align with:

  1. Entrepreneurship in the Curriculum
  2. University Research Commercialization and Startups
  3. Developing Entrepreneurial Universities, Culture & Ecosystems

Strong preference will be given to full panel proposals that include an identified panel moderator (usually the proposal submitter) and speakers / presentations from multiple institutions discussing their perspective / experience on the chosen panel topic. For individual presentation proposals, we will do our best to match you to the most appropriate panel based on your area of interest and panel availability.

Tips supporting a successful proposal:

  • Development of interactive panels where the panelists engage the audience in discussion and activity throughout the session.
  • Share lessons learned and best practices associated with specific programs and initiatives on campus.
  • Discuss problems and challenges associated when developing/deploying innovation and entrepreneurship initiative.
  • Incorporate aspects of diversity / inclusion, student engagement and broader community engagement in the targeted programs.
  • Include the student and entrepreneur perspectives where appropriate.
  • Clearly express how you will ensure audience participation and discussion into your session.

Each panel session will be allocated 75 minutes. Individual panelist presentations should not exceed 5-10 minutes in length. Assuming additional time for questions and audience interaction, we recommend a maximum of 4 presentations per session.

Finally, if accepted to present at the Symposium, all panelists are expected to register for the Symposium at the discounted Presenter’s rate prior to the conference deadline.

Please use our Panel Proposal Submission Form to submit your proposals.
